Prayer Update July 2010
Dear Friends,
Well, it has been like returning to Tanzania weather-wise! I have enjoyed wearing skirts and tee shirts, and not the usual necessity of wearing trousers! Thank you Lord, as this has made at least one thing easier for me!
Am I adjusting to things here? Well, in some ways ‘yes’ but in other ways ‘not yet’. I think the hardest thing is feeling rootless, and I would ask prayer for this. I think having closed my home in Tanzania and given away/sold many of my familiar possessions the reality that I don’t have a home is more acute. I know that our true home is in Christ, but physically we all need to identify with a place.
Praise God that the team back in Kayanga are doing very well. Flavian has taken responsibility in his stride, and Williamson has gained confidence (and is doing well as a photographer judging by the pictures he has sent me!) Pray they rest enough, as the case load is heavy and it’s the long dry season which is always more tiring for Field Work.
Praise God that Anesta, one of our young women with disability who was raped, has given birth safely and looks thrilled with her baby. Pray for her, as she has a progressive disability that will bring her life to a premature end.
One of the drawbacks of being overseas for a long time is that I’ve had no personal car insurance for 17 years. You cannot imagine the difficulties this has caused! Thankfully I am now insured (expensively), but it’s a ‘foot in the door!’ Praise God for the generosity of the Beacon family in N. Wales who have given me a car to use…wow, just imagine I accelerate and actually climb a hill without using 2nd gear!
Please pray for the Diocese of Kagera as they prepare for the General Synod and Jubilee celebration in August. This should be a time of celebration and thanks to God for all the ways he has blessed the Diocese. Pray the Management Committee work in unity, and with God at the centre of all plans.
This month I am visiting Lee Abbey for a few days, and am visiting friends in the Orkneys! What an exciting time! Pray all the travelling goes smoothly.
I pray you all have a happy and peaceful summer, and experience God’s blessings.
With my love,
Bridget Hathaway
