Equipo Impacto, Cuba Since the 1990s Cuba has experienced huge gospel growth. For this we praise the LORD! The political situation in Cuba has meant that churches are limited by size and venue constraints and so many small house churches have sprung up around the country. However, many of these churches are pastored by men who haven’t had any training in how to teach the Bible. Two thirds of those teaching the Bible on a regular basis have received no training - that is around 4,000 churches.
Equipo Impacto is headed up by Alexis Perez (above) and Elio Martiz (below). Both are Cuban, local church leaders and have degrees in Theology. Alexis has been studying on the Cornhill Training Course and Elio hopes to be able to do the same. Alexis came to the Lord while a student from an atheist background while Elio was raised in a Christian family and recognised his need for Christ as his redeemer as a nine year old. Alexis and Elio are committed to this ministry for the rest of their lives, and as long as the Lord gives them the strength and resources.
The Project Equipo Impacto is a new organisation with a new vision for Cuba - to train thousands of church leaders and Bible teachers how to faithfully interpret and teach the Bible. The exciting growth of the church over Cuba in the last 18 years has thrown many untrained young people into responsible Bible teaching roles. At present in Cuba there is no one teaching others how to do expository Bible preaching and teaching. The best way to impact the future health and growth of the church in Cuba is by engaging to train these many thousands of church leaders. From its base in Havana Equipo Impacto will offer churches the opportunity to have a three day training course in expository Bible preaching and teaching for their leaders. Elio and Alexis will travel around the country to offer these courses to churches. Both Alexis and Elio will spend time preaching in various churches - modelling the form of simple clear and faithful Bible teaching they are seeking to teach to others. Five times a year they hope to run Pastors Preaching Conferences as another way of training Bible teachers.

Equipo Impacto is a new initiative that seeks to address this need. They aim to “Impact the life of the next generation with the gospel of Jesus Christ, by training leaders to handle the Bible faithfully to teach it to others”. In order to do this Equipo Impacto has two main objectives
