To enable locally proposed, indigenous mission we fund projects and individuals (project partners) for up to three years. The funding enables new ministries to be started and the future trainers of pastors and evangelists to be trained themselves. This is only possible through active partnership between UK and Irish churches and the projects and project partners, including financial giving and reciprocal prayer. We believe that we can serve churches in Britain and Ireland by enabling them to partner with significant people and projects engaged in training others. However, we want to recognise the importance of fostering local ownership of mission engagements independent of Crosslinks. That means that our projects and project partners are for limited duration, and in some cases with a tapering financial commitment to encourage local believers and institutions to take ownership. Some examples of our project partners will illustrate what we are seeking to do. Ben Shikwati, a Kenyan, is currently serving part-time on the faculty of George Whitefield College in South Africa whilst completing post-graduate studies in order to equip others for ministry. Previously, Ayanda Jacobs was sponsored to serve on the faculty of the Bible Institute of Eastern Cape in Port Elizabeth until such time as the College was able to take on the expense itself. Likewise, Mario Méndez has been enabled to carry out a discipleship programme in rural Bolivia. Individuals are not the only targets of this scheme; there are also projects seeking to follow the same priorities. So, for example, one project in association with GAMFES (the Gambian student movement) is setting up a resource centre for evangelism. The Theological College of Zimbabwe has not been immune from the grave difficulties of that country and so we are giving some faculty support. We also continue to enable the support of the Kampala Evangelical School of Theology and the Church of Uganda’s BUILD programme. At present we have project partners and projects needing support. Could you partner with one of these gospel works? The financial cost of enabling a local worker to do local work is significantly lower than the cost of funding an expatriate worker. Gospel pennies go further when spent on locally proposed mission! Perhaps your church might be able to take on the full cost of one project, or you might like to take a share in one. It's up to you. However, do click on the links on the left to see the projects and people to whom we are currently providing funding. Individual supporters or prayer groups can also share in any project, as it is our desire that true gospel partnerships are established through these opportunities. If you want to make a donation right now please click here for how to do it. Please tell us which project your money is to be allocated to - there's a reference number by each one. |
